Case against Saif for alleged assault

A case was filed against Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan who messed up in a small fight at mid night in a restaurant. He has been alleged of punching a person that left the man with a broken nose. A FIR has been filed against the actor and his friends under IPC sections of 34(acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intent) and 325(voluntarily causing grievous hurt). Police have been looking for the actor but he has been unreachable since the incident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Iqbal Shaikh says, “His (Saif’s) arrest is inevitable as it is a cognizable offence, but it is bailable.” He even added that Saif could be enlarged on bail by the police and will not require approaching the court for the bail. Howsoever, he will have to first surrender and get arrested, only then the bail could be granted.

The ACP said, “The section under which he has been booked is bailable. He has to come with a surety and if we find that the surety is a sound surety, we will grant him bail.” The Colaba Police Station had registered the complaint. The actor along with his actress girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and some of his friends were having dinner at Wasabi restaurant at Taj Hotel. Iqbal Sharma, a South African businessman of Indian Origin, was the complainant. According to Iqbal, Saif and his friends were sitting at an adjacent table and were talking very loudly. When Sharma objected to them for talking loudly, argument started which later turned into a fight. Saif left Sharma with a bleeding and fractured nose.

ACP said that Sharma went to G T hospital after the incident and then reported the matter to police at 2:30 in the morning. A police team had gone to Saif’s Bandra’s residence but he was not found. Even actor’s mobile was found to be switched off. Sure the ACP denied on any female who had accompanied Saif to be involved in the incident. When ACP was questioned on whether Saif had himself injured the complainant, he said, “This is what the complainant has said.

We are in the process of recording the statements of independent witnesses.”  The people accompanying Saif to the dinner are yet to be identified. The police said that the footage of the CCTV is being scanned and statements of all eight witnesses have been recorded for further investigation.
