Bejoy Nambiar the director whose claim to fame was the recent hit Shaitaan has penned down his second film which he plans to shoot soon. Tentatively titled David, the film would roll not in Hindi but two languages both Hindi and Tamil.
However the director faces a big problem in casting his male lead and is eager to rope in Shahrukh Khan for the Hindi version of David. The Tamil version is going to have Vikram who was also seen in the Hindi version of Raavan directed by Mani Ratnam.
The story of David focuses around 3 men and Bejoy has still not zeroed down on any biggie from Bollywood to play one of the David. Whilst the other two male leads are finalised and include Vikram as stated and Jeeva who in recent times his making a strong presence with the kind of films he is doing down south.
The film also stars Tabu and the Tamil version of the film is currently being shot in Mangalore. The film is being produced by Reliance and the CEO Sanjay Lamba adds that initially David was only supposed to be made in Hindi. But since no Bollywood star is yet a part of this, making the film in Tamil would be a better proposition as it would help in cashing on Vikram’s popularity down South.
However with Shahrukh Khan showing interest in the project there seems to be a positive light for Bejoy as he feels that he could play the part well. Also the fact remains that SRK loved Bejoy’s Shaitaan and is eager to work with him, thus showing his eagerness to work with the director.
There are also reports that Vivek Oberoi was approached for the role now being considered by Shahrukh but apparently he did not want to work in a Tamil film which resulted in him opting out.
Well if all goes well, we shall soon see SRK and Bejoy come in what could be the most unconventional pairing as a star and the director considering the difference in work that they have done.
