Yash Chopra, Bollywood legend, dies at 80

Mumbai: Bollywood’s veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra has passed away today on Sunday, 21st October. The legendary director-producer of Hindi cinema was suffering from dengue, a disease caused by the biting of a dangerous mosquito. He was 80. Chopra was taken to hospital days back in Mumbai when he complained about bad health.

Yash Chopra is a name which is famous for churning out romantic movies. He was the king of romance and music. His sense for music was already regarded high. His films carried romance and music in plenty. Yash Chopra celebrated his 80th birthday on September and he even attended the 70th birthday of another Bollywood great Amitabh Bachchan with his better half Pamela on 11th October where the who’s who of Bollywood and other walks of life came to wish the legendry star.

Yash Chopra was born in Lahore (now in Pakistan) in 1932. Recently Yash Chopra talked about his journey of films and let the world know how he became the leading filmmaker of Bollywood industry with just 200 rupees in hands when he entered into Mumbai.

At his 80th birthday, Shah Rukh Khan, the most favorite star of Yash Raj Films, asked Chopra about his next film. Replying to Khan, Yash Chopra told that he had enough and he would not make any film after Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is Chopra’s return to direction after long 8 years and it is his last film which is yet to be released. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in leading roles. The man could not see his last movie and died before the release.

Yash Chopra always made his heroines special with chiffon sarees. The eye catchy locales of the world, he always captured for songs and scenes for his movies. In particular, Switzerland was his most favorite location. The untimely death of the talented filmmaker is a void which will not be fulfilled ever.
