Mumbai: Vidya Balan’s Kahaani has done wonders at the box office in India and abroad. The movie turned out to be the biggest hit adding more success feathers to Balan’s career and stardom. The consecutive successes with The Dirty Picture and Kahaani shot Vidya to super stardom. She increased the fee for the film and endorsements. Well, in short, she is in the sky of popularity these days. Kahaani’s worth is extraordinary that everyone wants to remake it. The film’s rights have been sold for the Tamil and Telugu remake. And now Aditya Chopra, the renowned filmmaker who is the son of famous production house’s owner and director Yash Chopra, has asked the producers for the rights of the movie to remake it in English.
The sources close to Chopra reveal that Adi is fully impressed by the film and considers it a big success on celluloid and at the box office as the heavy crowds on the ticket windows showed it all. It has been learnt that few days back Yash Chopra entered into discussions with the producers of Kahaani – Jayantilal Gada and Sujoy Ghosh to get the film rights to remake it in English. The YRF banner is still waiting the answer from the producers and once they get the positive response, the arrangements of obtaining the film rights will be done soon.
Adi knows that the film’s script is powerful thus he wants to buy the rights of the movie. The film will be released under the big banner of YRF. The sources say that the film will be released under Yash Raj Films’ new foreign division run by Yash Chopra’s younger son Uday Chopra.
Kahaani’s rights have also been sold out to Endemol for remaking this film in Telugu and Tamil. This project will be co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh.
