She’s lovingly been given the name of “piggy chops” in the industry…this sultry beauty has come a long way in the last couple of years….she’s done our country proud when she won the Miss India as well as the Miss World pageant in the year 2000…
Priyanka Chopra was born on the 18th of July in the year 1982 in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) to Dr. Madhu Akhauri & Dr. Ashok Chopra (who was in the Indian Army). Priyanka’s childhood was mostly spent moving from one city to another as her dad would keep getting posted as he was an officer in the Indian Army. Priyanka also has a younger brother named Siddharth who is about 7 years younger to her.
Priyanka has spent her early days in Bareilly & Uttar Pradesh before her family moved to Newton, Massachusetts, later to Cedar Rapids in Iowa. Priyanka studied at the La Martiniere Girls’ School (Lucknow) when she was young. She later moved with her family to U.S.A where she then joined at Newton South High School (Newton) in Massachusetts from where she went to the John F. Kennedy High School at Cedar Rapids in Iowa.
Much later her family came back to India, where she then finished high school at the Army School (Bareilly). Priyanka studied at the Jai Hind College (Mumbai). She left Bareilly when she won the Miss World pageant.
Her Music career
Priyanka is a trained classical western singer. In the year 2011(August), Priyanka signed an international recording contract with Universal Music and Desi Hits. She wishes to release her 1st music album with them. This album is to be released with Desi Hits in North America through the Interscope Records. In all other worldwide markets it will be released through UK’s Island Records.
Troy Carter, who is the chief executive official of the Atom Factory will be managing Priyanka’s music career. The album will include around 10 pop songs and shall release globally, sometime around 2012. Currently, Chopra is busy writing & recording this album in English.
TV career
Priyanka became a TV show host for a reality show with Colors’ which was titled Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi (in Level 3). Akshay kumar (actor) has hosted the previous 2 seasons for this reality show and was replaced by Priyanka in the 3rd season. The show was premiered on the 6th of September in 2010 and it beat all opening ratings for the previous 2 seasons.

- Her Father was an officer in the Indian Army- Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and her mother is a doctor- Dr. Madhu Chopra.
- Achievements: Priyanka is the solitary Indian citizen in the U.S. who has been chosen for the National Opus Honor Choir, at state level, for far-reaching charity work here in India plus the USA; she joined the CII & CAF in the literacy programs and became their ambassador. She’s a member for support groups for Thalassemic kids in Uttar Pradesh (India) & has participated in adult education programs to spread awareness with NGO’s in the secondary areas in Bareilly. She joined hands with the Indian Government when they sponsored the Polio Eradication Programs & worked as a volunteer. She has also helped raise funds for poor in Massachusetts, Boston, USA, when she participated in church programs.
- On the sets of the film Waqt: The Race Against Time (in the year 2005), while working on the song titled “Do Me A Favor, Let’s Play Holi”, she accidently stepped over a live wire. Priyanka had to be hospitalized for one day.
- She wanted to grow up and become either a criminal psychologist or a software engineer!
- Her dad Capt. Ashok Chopra manages his daughter’s career. The doctors diagnosed a tumor in Priyanka’s dad’s liver. She had him immediately undergo a complex emergency surgery.
