Power is infectious and Bollywood films always show how power can have other bad elements get together and together make a lethal combination. We must have seen the combination of power and politics in various movies, but Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster has the addition of love and betrayal to this volatile mixture. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the movie stars Mahie Gill, Randeep Hooda and Jimmy Shergill in the lead role.

The movie begins in the small town somewhere in North India where Begum (Mahie) and Nawab (Jimmy) live in their ancestral royal house to make sure that they keep up with social status but when times change they realize that they are spending too much and that they need some financial assistance to keep up their social status in the town. To make it worse Nawab’s political rival Gainda Singh (Vipin) is on a constant mission to eliminate Nawab and get into political power. Vipin gradually takes over but Kanahiya (Deepraj) is still one of the trusted men that Nawab has on his side. Due to his financial problems, Nawab begins to take killing contracts and Begum gets very little attention from Nawab which frustrates her. Soon Babloo (Randeep) enters the scene as temporary driver for Begum who is an informer planted by the rival gang but Babloo falls in love with Begum and confesses his real identity. Things change thereafter when they realize that they have an informer among them.

On performance level, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is definitely better than any other movies in the same genre. Jimmy Shergill has always given us some superlative performances and this time he repeats that. He is extremely intense and in the skin of the character which keeps you involved in the story. Mahie is another strong contender for roles that are so different. The role of Begum is designed for her and she does complete justice to her performance. Randeep Hooda was brilliant in gangster movies like D and he proves it once again that if you offer him good script he is nothing less than dynamite. Vipin Shah, Deepal Shaw and Deepraj Rana are equally brilliant in their character roles. The movie is brilliant technically as well and therefore you will never feel bored during the movie. The dialogues are equally good, but something where Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster fails is the soundtrack. Although, the movie has so many music directors there is no music that can make an impact.

To conclude, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster is a brilliant action thriller that keeps you on your seat and the USP of the movie is the unusual story line and brilliant dialogues. However, the lack of music would keep certain audiences out for some time. If you enjoy watching movie with good performance you have this one on your list.
