Dhanush’s much-awaited flick ‘3’ is finally out in theaters. The masses were anxiously awaiting the release of the film and now the sigh of relief comes up with the theatrical release of the flick that stars Dhanush and Shruti Hassan in the main leads. An intense romantic saga, 3 is youth movie. The trade pundits term it an urban-centric flick which depicts the three stages of the couple’s love.

Dhanush’s wife and superstar Rajnikanth’s daughter Aishwarya Dhanush has made her directorial debut with this extravaganza. The film is potentially a winner with good direction, script and brilliant performances. Aishwarya’s direction’s beauty is that she keeps the new age sensibilities in mind. She shows on screen what today’s men want to see on screen.

The story is gripping and so is the script of the film that is convincing and has power to bind the viewers till the finale. The flick starts with a death note and then instantaneously utters the viewers the fact that the flick is not about regular affair rather it deals with something serious. Within few minutes’ time, a flashback scene takes the audience to a lively atmosphere where Ram (Dhanush) is shown getting prepared to go to his college. On his under the spongy showers of rain, he bumps into a girl Janani (Shruti Haasan) who is repairing her cycle. Ram falls in love with her instantly. Soon the love blossoms between the two. After few hurdles, the couple finally gets married.

The first half of the film is what you witness in almost every love story but it certainly gives you the hints of something serious to take place later in the movie. The second half of the film brings a shocking twist when Ram suffers from a Bipolar Disorder that is called a psychological illness. The film’s theme then changes its focus on Ram’s struggling to beat the sufferings.

Aishwarya Dhanush is a good story-teller. She also maintains the suspense element brilliantly till the end reels. The direction is potentially superb to rave big about. The script is powerful and attracts the viewers. It also compliments the direction from tip to toe. Cinemotography is eye-candy. Editing is good but there are some portions which should have been deleted to make the movie in good length. Extra length does not impress at all. Music is marvelous. The music is what has made the film utterly popular in the world. The song ‘Kolaveri Di’ turned an anthem making Dhanush super famous around the globe.

Dhanush is a fine actor. He impresses with his classy acting. Shruti Hassan is brilliant. Rest of the cast is great to watch.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, 3 is a well-made film that carries powerful script, gripping direction and marvelous performances.
