Chennai: Where the south movies are being remade in Bollywood with abundance and the trend has turned to be a fashion, the Bollywood films (Hindi movies) have too started being remade in south cinema. The latest to join the bandwagon is none other than the superhit Delhi Belly which is going to be remade in Tamil. This movie was produced by the giant production house UTV Motion Pictures along with Aamir Khan Productions. The Tamil version of the movie is set to be directed by R. Kannan who previously made the films such as Jayamkondan and Kanden Kadhalai.
The film is yet to be given the title for Tamil but it has been learnt that the role of Imran Khan will be given to Arya to play. Arya is quite popular currently in south cinema which is why he was zeroed in the main hero’s role. Santhanam, the famous comedian, will enact the role Kunal Roy Kapoor played in the original. Premji will essay the character of Vir Das. The two leading ladies will be enacted by the souther sexy and ravishing gals – Hansika Motwani and Anjali who will be doing the roles of air hostess and journalist respectively.
Naseer, the famed character artist, will be doing the role which Vijay Raaz played in the Hindi version. In addition to all of them, the movie will also be having many other southern stars in important roles. The script will be edited as per the taste of the audiences of Tamil film industry. Thaman has been roped in to score the music. P.G. Muthiah will be the cinematographer of the film and Deepali will be the costume designer. Action will be done by Silva.
The movie will go on floors on May 7th 2012 and the shooting will be completed by October 2012. It is expected that the film will be released in early January 2013.
