Sonam Kapoor to play a student of JNU in Raanjhanaa
Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor has eventually said ‘yes’ to the film with Dhanush, the prominent southern star who rose to international fame with his song ‘Kolaveri Di’ from his film ‘3’ directed by his wife Aishwarya Dhanush.
The latest we heard that Sonam is going to do a character of a Varanasi girl who studies in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Dhanush plays her leading man in the movie titled ‘Raanjhanaa’. Initially there were problems about the dates which were unmanageable by the actress but after through discussion between the director Anand L.Rai and Sonam Kapoor, the actress finally agreed to give required dates for the movie. The director, who was keen to fetch in the actress, took finally the sigh of relief.
The script of the film reveals that Dhanush enacts the role of a local Varanasi boy whereas Sonam Kapoor has been given the character of a girl who is getting education at JNU in New Delhi. Sonam is now required to spend time at the university to get the ideas from there. She has to get grip over the ideology of the students out there. Since JNU’s culture is utterly different from the rest of the universities of the country, Sonam is required to learn it by physically being present there for some time.
The students at the university are very politically aware and talks quite brilliantly on the political and national issues. They hang out at particular cafes in the city and dress sensibly.
Sonam and Dhanush both are having problems on Hindi language since Dhanush is from south he cannot speak Hindi fluently and Sonam has to speak Hindi smoothly in the movie as the students at the university speak it with super ease.
Dhanush is in Mumbai these days for the dubbing of ‘3’ in Hindi and he has now hired a coach to learn this language. Sonam too is going to work hard over the language.
