Katrina Kaif is an actress of British-Indian origin. She was born in Hong Kong on 16th July, 1984 to an Indian father and an English mother, and has seven siblings. Katrina started modeling in London when she was 14. She was spotted by Kaizad Gustad, who cast her in his film ‘Boom’, but it turned out to be a dud at the box office.
She later appeared in films like “Sarkar”, “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya” and “Humko Deewana Kar Gaye”, but it was her breakthrough film “Namastey London” (in 2007) that she tasted success for her acting. The film was a major hit and her portrayal of ‘Jazz’ was much appreciated by all.
In the same year, she appeared in three other films- “Apne”, “Partner” and “Welcome”, of which the latter was a blockbuster. Katrina then appeared in an action-thriller film “Race” and action-comedy film “Singh Is Kinng”, both of which were successful films. Her next film “Yuvvraaj” failed commercially.
Katrina was much appreciated in her film “New York” and received a nomination in the Filmfare Best Actress category. On one hand, films like “Blue”, “De Dana Dan” and “Tees Maar Khan” failed at the box office, but on the other hand, “Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani”, “Rajneeti”, “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” and “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” were well-accepted among audiences.
Her upcoming films include “Ek Tha Tiger”, “Dhoom 3” and a Yash Chopra-untitled film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Katrina has been the brand ambassador for many products like Slice, Lux, Veet, etc. ‘Eastern Eye’ declared her the sexiest Asian woman in the world for 4 consecutive years in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
