If there’s one woman in Bollywood who can make you go weak in the knees every time you see her, it has to be Malaika Arora Khan. A model, VJ, actress and dancer, she has got the body to kill for!
Malaika was born on 23rd August 1973 to a Punjabi father and a Malayali Catholic mother. She completed her schooling from Swami Vivekananda School, Chembur and Holy Cross High School, Thane. She is an alumnus of Jai Hind College, Churchgate.
Malaika landed the job of an MTV VJ when MTV started operating in India. Gradually, she rose to the position of an interviewer and soon became a prominent figure in urban India. She also anchored many award functions and events on television.
Her decision to plunge into modeling was correct and Malaika tasted success here too. She appeared in many advertisements and did cameos in item numbers. Her item song ‘Chhaiya Chhaiya’ in the film ‘Dil Se’ became a rage and soon she became a sensation.
Malaika appeared in another item song in the film ‘Kaal’, along with Shah Rukh Khan, and in the title song of ‘Heyy Babyy’ along with Akshay Kumar. Her next famous number was in ‘Om Shanti Om’, where she was seen shaking a leg with her sister Amrita Arora.
The year 2010 was a breakthrough for her. Her item song ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ in Salman Khan-starrer ‘Dabangg’ became a world-wide rage. So much so, that she successfully created a world record in Melbourne by leading a whooping 1235 participants to dance to ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’.
Besides films, Malaika has made her appearance in several television shows like ‘Nach Baliye’, ‘Nach Baliye 2’, ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ and ‘Perfect Bride’. She is married to actor Arbaaz Khan and has a son, Arhaan.
