From a nobody to a dancer, actress, model and TV anchor, Rakhi Sawant is famous for being infamous. There are people who love her, and there are more who hate her. But she certainly isn’t one who can be ignored.
Born on 25 November, 1978 as Neeru Bheda, Rakhi Sawant studied in Goklibai High School and then Mithibai College. She played small roles in a number of films like ‘Dil Kya Kare’, ‘Kurukshetra’, ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai’, ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum’ and so on.
Rakhi was also seen in many Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Marathi films, doing mainly item numbers. She also appeared in many music videos.
Rakhi shot to fame overnight in June 2006, when at his birthday party, singer Mika Singh tried to kiss her forcibly, and the incident became a popular media controversy. Rakhi then appeared in renowned reality show Bigg Boss (Season 1) and reached the top four finalists. She was particularly known for her fights with other inmates of the Bigg Boss house.
Rakhi has participated in numerous reality shows like ‘Nach Baliye 3’, ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamwar’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, ‘Rakhi Ka Insaaf’, ‘Koffee With Karan’, ‘Comedy Circus’ and ‘Gazab Desh Ki Ajab Kahaaniyan’.
Rakhi has been in news for her personal life also. She broke up with her boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi on national television in 2008. The next year, she featured in her ‘swayamwar’ where she chose Toronto-based Elesh Parujanwala as her prospective groom. Later, she separated with him also, citing differences.
