A superb actor, an awesome dancer and an extremely handsome guy- Shahid Kapoor has all it takes to be the nation’s heartthrob. A large number of films to his credit and numerous music videos and ad campaigns in his kitty, Shahid has proved his mettle time and again, and has garnered a huge fan following.
Shahid Kapoor was born on 25th February 1981 to a Hindu actor Pankaj Kapoor, and a Muslim actress Neelima Azeem. He has three half-siblings (since his parents are divorced) – a sister and two brothers. He finished his studies at Rajhans Vidyalaya in Mumbai.
Shahid was seen in many ads, including a Pepsi commercial with ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ stars. He trained as a dancer at the Shiamak Davar Institute for the Performing Arts and featured as a supporting dancer in a song in ‘Taal’. Shahid received his first break in films in the film ‘Ishq Vishk’, which earned him the Best Male Debut Award.
He then appeared in a number of films, most of which were commercial failures. His 2006 film ‘Vivah’ earned him much appreciation from critics and was a commercial success also. The string of success continued with films like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Kaminey’, in which his performance received positive response from both critics and audiences.
His latest film, ‘Mausam’, was a box-office failure. He will be seen opposite Priyanka Chopra in his upcoming film ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’. The film will release in June, 2012.
Shahid was in a relationship with actress Kareena Kapoor, but they broke up in 2007. He was later linked to his co-stars like Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra, although there is no news of his stable relation with anybody as of now.
