Known best for her dressing sense in the industry, actress Tisca Chopra is a talented heroine, who has done few, but films of different genre. She practices Buddhism and is devoted to many social causes with NGOs, supporting women’s rights and education.
Tisca Chopra was born as Tisca Zareen Arora on 1st November 1974 in the beautiful hill station of Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh. She finished her schooling from Apeejay School, Noida, of which her father was the principal. She even topped her college (Hindu College, DU) in English Literature, and even wrote for many publications. In her college days, she got actively involved in amateur theatre in her college and acted in plays for theatres and college fests. Then she moved to Mumbai.
Her debut film was ‘Platform’ in 1993. Tisca Chopra trained herself in acting by working under theatre artistes like Feroz Abbas Khan and Naseeruddin Shah. After showcasing her talent in several plays with Feroz Abbas, she shifted to television industry. Her talent was noticed in the short films she did on TV, and landed bit roles in popular TV serials like ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ among others.
The actress received her big break in cinema when she bagged the role of a mother in Aamir Khan’s film ‘Taare Zameen Par’ in 2007. She won many awards for this role and became a well-known face in the country. She also played important roles in films like ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ and ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’.
Tisca has also appeared in TV commercials for brands like Olay, Kellogg’s, Volini and Horlicks. She is married to Air India pilot Captain Sanjay Chopra.
