Vidya Malvade was born on 2nd March, 1972 in Maharashtra. She has had a diverse career till date, as she studied law and then worked as an air hostess. Later, she took up acting as a career. Her debut movie was Inteha, directed by Vikram Bhatt. The movie released in 2003, and didn’t fare well at the box office.
She also acted in other movies like Footpath (2003) and Mashooka (2005) but was unsuccessful. In 2007, she was seen in Chak de India where she played the role of the captain of the Indian National Women’s Hockey team, and was much acclaimed. Thereafter, she was seen in other films like Benaam, Kidnap, Tum Milo To Sahi, No Problem and Striker, all of which turned out to be flops.
Besides Bollywood films, she has done many commercials and advertisements. She was also seen in a television serial named Family No. 1 on DD Metro. More recently, she contested in Khatron Ke Khiladi which was broadcasted on Colors TV.
In her personal life, Vidya has seen many ups and downs. In the year 1997, she was married to Captain Arvind Singh Bagga, who was a pilot in Alliance Air. Unfortunately, he died in a plane crash in the year 2000. In 2009, she married Sanjay Dayma, who wrote the screenplay and was the associate director for the Oscar nominated movie Lagaan.











Her current project is a film named “Aap Ke Liye Hum”, in which she has replaced Urvashi Sharma in the lead role.
